About

Soham More

I'm a final-year B.Tech Computer Engineering student at NMIMS Navi Mumbai, graduating in 2027. I work mostly in Java and Spring Boot, with a side interest in applying machine learning to systems problems rather than to datasets that arrive pre-cleaned.

Right now I'm a Java Developer Intern at Mainfreight India, building a reference client against their public Warehousing API — feed ingestion, schema validation, and the retry-versus-reject decisions that determine whether a failed batch is recoverable or just gone.

Capstone: CascadeShield
Guide: Prof. Variza Negi, STME

My capstone, CascadeShield, is a joint empirical study of circuit-breaker window behaviour under injected faults. Most of what I've learned this year came from it — specifically from the months spent working out that our cleanest result was an artifact of the harness rather than a property of the system. That experience is the throughline of most things on this site.

What I'm interested in

Correctness under concurrency, mainly. Lost updates, lock ordering, idempotency across retries — the class of bug that produces no exception and no stack trace, and is only ever caught by an invariant somebody bothered to assert. I find the measurement side of that at least as interesting as the fixing: how you establish that a system is actually doing what your test says it's doing.

I'm currently looking at MS programmes abroad in computer science, with a preference for anything that puts distributed systems, reliability engineering, or applied ML on systems data within reach. I'm also open to backend engineering roles and internships.

Elsewhere

Core member of the IEEE Student Committee at NMIMS since 2025, and a volunteer mentor at Don Bosco Oratory. I read a fair amount of astronomy for no professional reason whatsoever, and I speak English, Marathi, Hindi, and enough German to order breakfast badly.
